Bay Area cartoonists Lloyd Dangle, Mats!?, Jeff Roysdon and Steve Lafler join together to bring cartoon art gift items from graphic novels to ceramics to the Mercury Cafe in Hayes Valley on December 21 from 6-9 p.m.

Dangle is best known for his long running Troubletown strip, wherein he slings deftly aimed arrows at liars and thieves from across the political spectrum. Dangle offers an array ofTroubletown related books and merchandise, hilarious works featuring his signature brilliant illustrations.

Mats!?, the accomplished painter and screen printer with a crackling urban sensibility, is best know for his travelogue graphic novel Asiaddict on the Sparkplug imprint. Mats!? arrives packing an array of stunning screen printed stickers and original paintings as well.

Cartoonist, animator, and painter Jeff Roysdon offers unique ceramic pieces featuring his cuddly, heart felt-yet-acerbic visions and spectacular level of craft, along with original paintings.

Lafler, late of Oaxaca, Mexico, brings his band The Dick Nixon Experience into the Mercury, rounding out the evening's entertainment with some acoustic "Oaxacabilly" music. Lafler marks his return to the Bay Area with his graphic novels El Vocho, 40 Hour Man and Bughouse.

In 1996, Daniel Clowes - already a culturally significant cartoonist - designed the now famous MELT logo for the recently opened Meltdown Comics and Collectibles in Los Angeles. It was an inspired pairing of artist and outlet, tying the two together at a particular time and place without tying them down. Seriously!

During that period, Clowes designed several characters for Meltdown. A few are well known, while most have remained obscure. ALL of them are cool, and 9 of them are now Stinckers!

The Right-On people at Meltdown Comics and Collectibles went a little Nuts for Mark Todd's fantastic LAME ASS series. What I heard was the last guy in line pushed $7 worth of quarters into the vendor hoping for a FRY GUY decal before inventory ran out (even leaving 1 extra quarter in the tray as if to say, I dunno, something). I wish I could hook you up with one, but those were the last we had. Maybe GIANT ROBOT still has a sheet for sale? Or Mr. Todd himself?

ANYHOW, we've refilled the machine with Joven's Non-Stop Rokken designs, plus Mats' rare GLITTERBOTZ. + there are still a few ELC and POISON PENS to be had so don't miss out if you can help it

OF COURSE, all of our new designs were a terrific success at STINCKER-CON INTL. 2009, but none more than Johnny Ryan's AWESOME HORROR STIN(C)KERS, which were all gone by Saturday. Above, please note this young lady's cool reaction to "From Beyond."

Then there was Mark Todd's "WICKET," from his amazing LAME ASSES. Wicket was the most sought after single Stincker in the machine, and many kind patrons pluncked quarter after quarter into our vendor only to be stung by "Mr. Belvedere" or "Gallagher." Not that there's anything wrong with those lame asses, but when you're dreaming of Ewoks... Well, "Blossom" can be a bitter pill to swallow.

Awesome Horror Stin(c)kers, Lame Asses, Unlovable and Stinckers Series 16:4 will be in Giant Robot stores soon. Buy them all!

Another 4-color sheet for Mats!? to suffer over. More line-drawing than "Stinckers Ballpark Snackbar All-Stars," but a lot of the same ideas with color and shape. Above is my working file for assembling the 4 plates. I almost always end up feeling more affection for underdrawings and assembly files like this than the final pieces they're created for, probably because I spend way too much time on them. I hope a lot of people like this sheet and buy them when they're finally printed, but for now here is this. Thanks!
